Will Bubble Wrap Protect an Egg?
Introduction
Eggs are fragile objects that are prone to breakage. Bubble wrap is a cushioning material that is often used to protect delicate items. In this experiment, we will investigate the ability of bubble wrap to protect an egg from impact.
Experimental Design
We will use the following materials for this experiment:
- 1 egg
- 1 sheet of bubble wrap
- 1 cardboard box
We will drop the egg from a height of 1 meter onto the cardboard box. We will repeat this experiment three times, with the egg wrapped in bubble wrap in one trial and unwrapped in the other two trials.
Results
In the trial where the egg was wrapped in bubble wrap, the egg survived the fall without breaking. In the two trials where the egg was unwrapped, the egg broke both times.
Conclusion
The results of this experiment show that bubble wrap is an effective way to protect an egg from impact. Bubble wrap provides cushioning that absorbs the shock of the fall, preventing the egg from breaking.
Additional Information
The thickness and density of the bubble wrap can affect its protective capabilities. Thicker and denser bubble wrap will provide more protection than thinner and less dense bubble wrap.
Bubble wrap can also be used to protect other delicate items, such as glassware, electronics, and artwork.
