Why Doesn’t FaceTime Work?

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. Check your internet connection. FaceTime requires a stable internet connection to work. Make sure your Wi-Fi or cellular data is turned on and that you have a strong signal.
  2. Check your device’s software. FaceTime may not work if your device’s operating system is not up to date. Go to Settings > Software Update to check for updates.
  3. Restart your device. Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve issues with FaceTime. Press and hold the Power button until the “Slide to power off” slider appears. Then, slide the slider to turn off your device. Wait a few seconds and then press and hold the Power button again to turn on your device.
  4. Check your FaceTime settings. Open the FaceTime app and go to Settings. Make sure that FaceTime is turned on and that your Apple ID is signed in.
  5. Contact Apple Support. If you’ve tried all of the troubleshooting steps above and FaceTime is still not working, you may need to contact Apple Support. You can reach Apple Support by phone, chat, or email.
