How to Remotely Deauthorize a Computer for iTunes
If you’ve sold, given away, or lost a computer that you previously authorized to use with your iTunes account, you’ll want
to deauthorize it to prevent unauthorized access to your music and other content. You can easily deauthorize a computer
remotely using your Apple ID and password.
Step-by-Step Instructions

Open iTunes on a computer that you’ve authorized
Make sure you’re signed in to iTunes with the Apple ID that you used to authorize the other computer.

Click on “Account” in the menu bar
Select “View My Account” from the drop-down menu.

Sign in to your Apple ID
If prompted, enter your Apple ID and password to sign in.

Click on “Manage Devices”
Under the “Account” section, click on the “Manage Devices” button.

Find the computer you want to deauthorize
A list of all the computers that have been authorized to use your iTunes account will appear.

Click on the “Remove” button
A confirmation dialog box will appear. Click on the “Remove” button to deauthorize the computer.
Additional Notes
- You can only deauthorize a computer once every 90 days.
- Deauthorizing a computer will remove all of your iTunes content from that computer.
- If you need to reauthorize the computer in the future, you can follow the same steps above.
Troubleshooting
If you encounter any errors while trying to deauthorize a computer, try the following:
- Make sure that you’re signed in to iTunes with the Apple ID that you used to authorize the other computer.
- Check that the computer you’re trying to deauthorize is still connected to the internet.
If you successfully deauthorize a computer, you’ll see a confirmation message.
