How to Make Chocolate Muffins

Chocolate muffins are a classic treat that are perfect for breakfast, lunch, or a snack. They are easy to make and can be customized to your liking with different toppings and fillings.

Ingredients

  • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup melted butter
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease or line a muffin tin with paper liners.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, melted butter, egg, and vanilla extract.
  4. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Do not overmix.
  5. Fill muffin cups 3/4 full. Bake for 18-20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  6. Let muffins cool in the pan for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Tips

  • For a richer chocolate flavor, use dark chocolate cocoa powder.
  • Add 1/2 cup of chocolate chips to the batter for a more decadent muffin.
  • Top muffins with a dollop of whipped cream, a drizzle of chocolate sauce, or fresh fruit.
