How to Install a Distributor on a Chevy 350

Materials Needed

  • New distributor
  • Distributor cap and rotor
  • Spark plug wires
  • Wrench set
  • Screwdriver
  • Timing light

Step 1: Remove the Old Distributor

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Unplug the electrical connector from the distributor.
  3. Remove the distributor cap and rotor.
  4. Use a wrench to loosen the distributor hold-down bolt.
  5. Gently pull the distributor straight up and out of the engine.
