How to Build a Weeping Water Wall
A weeping water wall is a beautiful and relaxing addition to any garden. It’s a great way to add the sound of water to your outdoor space, and it can also help to cool you down on a hot day. Building a weeping water wall is a relatively easy project that can be completed in a weekend.
Materials
- Wood (cedar, redwood, or cypress is best)
- 1/4-inch plywood
- 1/2-inch PVC pipe
- PVC pipe fittings (elbows, tees, etc.)
- Water pump
- Water reservoir
- Landscape fabric
- Gravel
- Screws
- Nails
Instructions
- Build the frame. The frame of your weeping water wall can be any size or shape you want. However, it’s important to make sure that the frame is sturdy enough to support the weight of the water. To build the frame, cut the wood into the desired size and shape. Then, assemble the frame using screws or nails.
- Attach the plywood. Once the frame is assembled, attach the plywood to the back of the frame. The plywood will help to keep the water from leaking out of the wall.
- Install the PVC pipe. The PVC pipe will be used to distribute the water evenly over the wall. To install the PVC pipe, cut the pipe into the desired length and shape. Then, connect the pipe fittings to the pipe. Finally, attach the pipe to the back of the wall using screws or nails.
- Install the water pump. The water pump will be used to circulate the water through the wall. To install the water pump, connect the pump to the water reservoir. Then, place the pump in the water reservoir and plug it in.
- Add the landscape fabric and gravel. The landscape fabric will help to prevent the gravel from clogging the PVC pipe. The gravel will help to support the water wall and keep it in place.
Troubleshooting
- The water is leaking out of the wall. If the water is leaking out of the wall, check to make sure that the plywood is properly attached to the frame. You may also need to seal the seams between the plywood and the frame using caulk.
- The water is not flowing evenly over the wall. If the water is not flowing evenly over the wall, check to make sure that the PVC pipe is properly installed. You may also need to adjust the flow rate of the water pump.
- The water pump is not working. If the water pump is not working, check to make sure that the pump is properly plugged in. You may also need to replace the pump.
With a little care and maintenance, your weeping water wall will provide years of enjoyment.
