How to Make Fried Pickles
Fried pickles are a delicious and easy-to-make appetizer or side dish. They’re perfect for parties, picnics, or just a snack. And the best part is, you can make them at home with just a few simple ingredients.
Ingredients
- 1 jar (16 ounces) dill pickles
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
Instructions
- Drain the pickles. Remove the pickles from the jar and drain them on paper towels.
- Prepare the buttermilk mixture. Combine the buttermilk, flour, salt, and pepper in a large bowl. Whisk until smooth.
- Dip the pickles in the buttermilk mixture. Dip each pickle in the buttermilk mixture, turning to coat. Let the excess buttermilk drip off.
- Heat the oil. Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Once the oil is hot, carefully drop the pickles into the skillet.
- Fry the pickles. Fry the pickles for 2-3 minutes per side, or until they’re golden brown. Remove the pickles from the skillet and drain them on paper towels.
Tips
- For extra crispy pickles, double-dip them in the buttermilk mixture before frying.
- You can use any type of pickles you like, but dill pickles are the most common.
- If you don’t have buttermilk, you can make your own by adding 1 tablespoon of lemon juice or white vinegar to 1 cup of milk.
Serve
Serve the fried pickles with your favorite dipping sauce, such as ranch dressing, ketchup, or barbecue sauce.
